Prayer
Feast of the Assumption of Mary
Father in heaven,
all creation rightly gives you praise,
for all life and all holiness come from you.
In the plan of your wisdom
she who bore the Christ in her womb
was raised body and soul in glory to be with him in heaven.
May we follow her example in reflecting your holiness
and join in her hymn of endless love and praise.
We ask this through Christ our Lord.
Amen.
Venerable Nano Nagle, Pray for us.
Dear Parents, Carers, Staff, Students and Friends,
The Assumption: Mary’s Example of Hope and Service
Today, we celebrate the Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary, a pivotal feast day that holds profound meaning for us as a Catholic community and, particularly, as a Presentation school.
The Assumption is the belief that Mary, at the end of her earthly life, was taken up, body and soul, into heaven. It’s a powerful message of hope and an invitation to trust in God’s promises, just as Mary did with her unwavering “yes.” Her humility and steadfast faith are virtues we strive to embody daily.
This story is beautifully woven into the fabric of our Presentation charism, as inspired by the life of Nano Nagle. Like Mary, Nano was a woman of deep faith and action. She responded to the needs of the marginalised with courage and compassion, bringing education and hope where it was most needed.
In celebrating the Assumption, we honour not only Mary, but also the spirit of service and trust in Divine Providence that defines our school. We encourage our students to look to Mary as a model of discipleship and to Nano Nagle as a model of service, living out their faith with joyful hearts and bringing God’s light into the world.
2025 – 2026 College Captain and College Vice Captains
I am thrilled to announce the appointments of our 2026 College Captain and Co-Vice Captains: Annaliese Tannous (Captain) and Antonia Farhat and Neve Pelizzari (Co-Vice Captains).
These young women have consistently demonstrated exceptional leadership, dedication, and a strong commitment to our school community. Their passion for fostering inclusivity and their innovative ideas will undoubtedly bring a new level of vibrancy to our school culture. We are confident they will serve as outstanding role models for their peers, upholding the values that make our school a truly special place. We look forward to seeing all the positive contributions they will make throughout the year.
They will officially take over from the current team at the start of next term. We will hold a special event to thank the outgoing leaders for their service, induct the new captains, and celebrate this important transition.
A sincere thank you to every student who applied for these positions. Your commitment to our school is truly valued, and we encourage you to continue seeking leadership opportunities, as there are many ways to contribute to our community.
Conclusion of HSC Trial Examinations
As the HSC Trial Examinations conclude this Monday, 18 August, I want to extend my congratulations to all our Year 12 students. Your dedication and hard work throughout this challenging period have been truly inspiring.
I am immensely grateful to our parents and families for their unwavering support, which has been a cornerstone of our students’ success. My sincere thanks also go to our dedicated teaching staff, whose tireless efforts in preparing and supporting our students have been invaluable. We are fortunate to have such a committed community working together to help our students achieve their best. Well done Year 12!
A Fond Farewell to Our Japanese Visitors
After two weeks of shared learning and cultural exchange, we say a heartfelt goodbye to our Japanese student visitors. Their presence brought much joy to our community, and we are incredibly grateful for the new friendships and perspectives they have shared with us. We wish them a safe journey home and hope their memories of us are as cherished as ours are of them. A special thank you to our generous Domremy host families and to Ms. Rebecca Godfrey for her commitment and generosity in overseeing this awesome opportunity.
Our Strategic Future: The Inquiry and Review Process
Next year, our College will take part in the Sydney Catholic Schools (SCS) Inquiry and Review Process. This is a significant opportunity for us to reflect on our achievements over the past five years and develop a strategic plan for continuous improvement over the next five.
The process will be informed by a range of data, including the results from the “Tell Them From Me” electronic survey. We are excited about this chance to formally reflect on our progress and set a clear course for the future, ensuring our school continues to thrive.
Finally …
As we approach the middle of the term, I want to offer a gentle reminder to all students that ‘success is not an option, but an expectation’. It is essential that the girls remain focused, think positively, and strive for their personal best in all that they do. Their achievement and performance are directly impacted by their determination, hard work, and consistent effort. We know each young woman is capable of great things.
We also bid a fond farewell to My Anh Ho, who is leaving us and thank her for her valuable contributions to the College.
With blessings to you and your families.
Mrs Antoinette McGahan
College Principal
