Easter Prayer

Dear Lord,

May we feel the warm embrace of your love on this sacred day.

May the glory of Jesus’s resurrection remind us that with You,

Nothing is impossible or without hope.

We pray in Your name.

Amen.

Venerable Nano Nagle, Pray for us.

He Is Risen | Easter 2016 | KBC Faith Talks

Dear Parents, Carers, Students and Staff,

As this term draws to a close, it is the perfect time to reflect on all that has happened within and outside our community. We certainly have indulged in the rich tapestry of life and culture that so profoundly exists within the walls of Domremy. The diabolical busyness of the endless and exciting events that have happened throughout this term has certainly made it even more rewarding. Our new students and staff feel right at home and many have made the point of letting me know just how they are enjoying and loving our community! We should all be very proud!

It is especially uplifting to see how we, as a community, support each other on a daily basis. This contributes to building a strong cohesive community and in turn builds on the sense of belonging which leads to the strong positive learning culture that endures.

We have much to be grateful for and we should never forget how blessed we are. When I look back on what have been some of the characteristics and qualities students have exemplified by their contribution, whether in the classroom or on the field of sport, in the many events we have held or in connection with the social justice initiatives we have engaged in, the one that stands out is resilience. Resilience is about being adaptable, flexible and persistent, it’s about having a go and showing responsibility and commitment.

Most recently, this is exemplified through our girls magnificent performance in the sporting arena and we proud to share with you the following:

  • Chloe Gao won two gold medals at CSNSW Diving and will be travelling domestically for more competitions.
  • Alyssa Kelly made the representative team for Touch Football for Pacific Islands.
  • Isabella Taranto made Nationals for Dragon Boating.
  • Our Water Polo teams were very triumphant. Congratulations to the juniors and the seniors for winning the Sydney Championship finals.
  • We finished equal first in Intermediate Swimming Sydney Championships (shared with Marist Sisters College Woolwich), Grace Moles was the 14 years age champion at this event.

Several of our girls have gone through to CSNSW representation for their sports, such as football, netball and touch football. The most rewarding moments in sport are not the ones that win gold, but the ones that challenge us and push us to be our very best. Most importantly, at the Athletics Carnival, there were several girls who competed having never done so previously, going home with a ribbon having finished first, second or third.  Thank you to our community who encouraged these girls to be the best they could be. Well done and congratulations everyone!!

On Easter …

Holy Week is the most significant and solemn week in our Church’s Liturgical calendar. It is a time when we commemorate the Passion of Jesus Christ. Easter gives us the reason for hope and new life. And we all know there are many Christians as well as other people throughout the world whose lives seem like Lent without Easter – constantly full of struggle with no hope or light. We especially keep those people in countries ravaged by war like the Ukraine, natural disasters such as the Turkey-Syria Earthquake and our very own country with destructive storms and floods in our prayers.

10 Powerful Facts About the Cross of Christ & The Crucifixion of Jesus

Holy week begins with Palm Sunday, then we move into the Easter Triduum – Holy Thursday, Good Friday and ending with Easter Sunday. During this time,  we remember that Jesus, as man and the Son of God, died to save us.

Easter Sunday is the real celebration as this is when the great discovery is made.  The grave could not hold Him…because Jesus is alive. Through our Lord’s resurrection we are given hope now and for the future – regardless of what comes our way. This is the perfect time of year when as a faith community and in our own families, we make time to reflect on our faith; connect through prayer, reconsider where we are in our faith journey and in our own lives.

The Easter message is always one of love, peace, forgiveness and hope. When we think of Easter and the way it moves from the darkness of Good Friday to the radiant light of Easter Sunday it always gives us the opportunity to renew our belief that hope and love will conquer all.

I encourage you all to attend your local parishes with your family and friends for the various ceremonies. Remember that Easter gives us hope and new life. We are Easter people, people of hope and people filled with the joy of the Risen Christ. Easter isn’t a spiritual event that happened just once, long ago; we don’t say “Christ has risen” but “Christ is risen,” because He rose, body and soul, and is still alive and with us today. That is the true meaning of Easter.

Christ is risen! Indeed He is risen!
On a final note …

I would like to share with you a beautiful Easter message which has been sent to us by Presentation Sister, Sr Imelda PBVM from Papua New Guinea. Sr Imelda was at Domremy on a number of occasions over the last few years.

I wish each of you and your families the peace and blessings of a Happy Easter. I thank all our students and our Domremy families for your support during this very industrious and energetic term. On behalf of you, our College community, I extend my thanks to our remarkable staff for their industrious and energetic commitment and generosity as always!

I wish you all a safe and relaxing break. Classes resume on Tuesday 26 April 2023.

Blessings on you and your families
