Dairy Incursion 2024

On Tuesday 28 May, Year 7 Technology classes along with Year 12 Food Technology students enjoyed an educational visit from A Smart Farmer, a mobile dairy. Jess, the farmer, along with her assistant, Tiana, came to Domremy with three cows from her farm in Camden. Two cows were Jersey Cows and the third was a Holstein Friesian named Lucy. 

During the incursion students had the opportunity to milk a cow, make soft cheese and also watch the process in which milk and cream are separated. 

Farmer Jess also spent time explaining how a dairy farm worked, described the different types of cows we have in Australia and also went into detail about milk production. Overall the experience for both Year 7 and Year 12 was fun, engaging and educational.
