ARTEXPRESS 2023 Excursion
Year 12 and Year 11 Visual Arts students visited ARTEXPRESS 2023 at The Armoury and The Art Gallery of NSW (AGNSW) last week. The exhibition showcases outstanding artworks created by Visual Arts students from all over NSW. Domremy students were inspired and engaged by the creativity, technical accomplishment and conceptual strength of the high standard of artworks exhibited.
We also visited the Sydney Modern to explore the new wing of the AGNSW, including Adrián Villar Rojas’ The End of Imagination at the Sydney Modern “Tank”. The largest scale work in this gallery is Archive of Mind, a participatory work from South Korean conceptual artist, Kimsooja. Visitors are asked to take a lump of clay and roll it into a clay ball between their hands. They place it on a large wooden table overlooking Woolloomooloo, where it dries overnight. The balls will collect over time, capturing the same small, sensory moment for thousands of visitors. Our students loved doing this.
We were so excited to run into our friend and artist, Abdul Abdullah, who was at the AGNSW celebrating the preview of the exhibition of his paintings in the main exhibition space!
