Writer in Residence

Our Year 11 students recently participated in a dynamic Writer-in-Residence workshop with Dr Sarah Ayoub. Sarah is the author of three teen novels, including the The Yearbook Committee, and five children’s picture books, including The Love That Grew and How to Be a Friend. The session focused on coming up with a creative concept and how to write a succinct engaging creative extract. Students explored how to an engaging opening, using setting to convey character feelings and thoughts, developing climactic moments and how to close an extract. This hands-on masterclass has equipped our Year 11 students with a sophisticated creative writing toolkit for the future.
