Prayer for International Women’s Day
God our Creator,
We thank you for all women throughout the world.
We celebrate their strengths, their achievements,
and their vital role in our families and societies.
On this International Women’s Day,
we pray for the day when every woman is treated with honour, dignity, and respect.
We ask for your protection for those who face exploitation, violence and repression.
Lord, we ask for your grace to empower women to reach their full potential in faith and life.
Grant us the courage to overturn deep-seated inequalities,
and to work for a world of justice and equality, inspired by the Gospel.
We thank you for the pioneering women in all fields – arts, sciences, business and faith –
who have opened doors for those who follow.
May your love bring hope where there is despair,
and may we celebrate the strength and goodness in all people.
We ask this in the name of Jesus Christ, our Lord.
Amen.

Dear Parents, Carers, Staff, Students and Friends
As I reflect on the events of this past week, I find myself feeling both immensely proud and deeply humbled by the spirit of our community. It has been a week defined by connection, celebration, and a profound sense of purpose.
Open Day 2026
Our campus truly came alive this past Sunday. With over 1,000 visitors joining us, it was a joy to see so many new faces discovering what makes our College so special. This day remains a cornerstone of our year, offering prospective families a firsthand look at the vibrant, inclusive environment we strive to cultivate.
I am particularly moved by the fact that over half of our student body chose to volunteer. They were our finest ambassadors, leading with a dedication that makes me incredibly proud. My deepest thanks also go to our hardworking staff and our parent volunteers for their tireless work behind the scenes. I reserve a special thank you to Meaghan Roche (mother of Allanah in Year 11), who shared her personal journey as a parent with such grace and sincerity during our presentations. Her heartfelt words offered a beautiful, authentic window into our College life.
International Women’s Day Assembly
The momentum continued on Thursday with our powerful International Women’s Day Assembly. My sincere gratitude goes to the staff and student leaders whose collaborative vision and dedication made this event such a resounding success. We were particularly blessed to welcome the gifted Zoe Karatzovalis; her presence offered a captivating perspective that left us all deeply inspired and motivated.
This year, the IWD theme is twofold, “Balance the Scales” and “Give to Gain.” This call to action reminds us that true equality is a collective responsibility, requiring a steady and intentional effort from all of us. As Gloria Steinem famously noted, the journey toward equality belongs to all who care about human rights. In our pursuit to balance the scales, we recognise that our contributions, whether through our time, our voices, or our mentorship, act as a vital weight in the favor of justice. When we provide the support necessary for women to thrive, the entire community rises in equilibrium. I challenge each of us to consider: What weight will you add to the scales to help achieve true gender equality?

A Call to Peace
While we celebrate the blessings within our own walls, we remain profoundly mindful of our global family. Our hearts turn toward the Middle East and we hold all those enduring the pain of unrest and conflict in our most earnest prayers. In these moments of both local joy and global uncertainty, I am more grateful than ever for the compassion and unity you each bring to our Domremy community.
A Prayer for Peace
Lord, make me an instrument of your peace:
where there is hatred, let me sow love;
where there is injury, pardon;
where there is doubt, faith;
where there is despair, hope;
where there is darkness, light;
where there is sadness, joy.
We pray especially for our brothers and sisters in the Middle East,
that through Your divine grace,
hearts may be softened and a path to lasting peace may be found.
Amen.
Venerable Nano Nagle, Pray for us.
Blessings on you and your families,
Mrs Antoinette McGahan, College Principal
