Welcome Year 8

Welcome Year 8

It is a privilege to continue my partnership with Year 8 this year. I would like to extend my gratitude and appreciation for the way students have commenced the school year.

Our commitment to getting ‘the little things right’ has been supported by the majority of Year 8 students through their compliance regarding the College’s uniform policy. Adherence to these high standards assist in fostering respect for the College’s processes and in turn teach students to be responsible and display a sense of pride. We will continue to challenge students daily with these expectations and encourage parental support.

As we embark on a fresh new year, students have set goals towards achieving their personal best. This will no doubt be rewarded when they receive their College report at the end of this semester. For students who have some areas that they can improve upon, we encourage them to set realistic goals for themselves and keep working toward achieving these goals.

This year will be full of opportunities and possibilities, allowing the vast majority of Year 8 students to find ways they can positively contribute to our school community. I ask all Year 8 not to sit back and let your school years pass you by. The more you contribute to the life of Domremy College, the more you will get out of your years spent here.

In saying this, I would like to congratulate the newly appointed Year 8 SRC students. This is a wonderful opportunity for students to contribute to the life of the College. Congratulations to the following students:

  • Joseph House- Ira
  • Martina House – Lavinia
  • Nagle House – Lola
  • Notre Dame House- Tiana
  • Orleans House- Havana
  • Siena House- Hannah

The feedback from Year 8 teachers has been overwhelmingly positive and their results speak for themselves. Part of their success can be attributed to their attendance and organisation skills. It is vital that students are present at school in order to learn the content which they will be assessed on. We ask that parents support us in ensuring their children arrive on time to school each day. The Year 8 Pastoral Team have encouraged students to use their diaries as a tool to keep them organised to ensure homework is completed and students stay on track in each subject.

It has been a privilege to meet parents during the Year 8 Stage 4 Assessment evening. The substantial input from Mrs Clarke our Curriculum Coordinator.and Mrs Smit our Leader of Learning and Teaching afforded students and carers information regarding each course and assessment procedures. We hope that you also enjoyed and benefited from the opportunity.

I look forward to continuing to work in partnership with Year 8 as they continue on their academic and spiritual journey.

Ms Mary David, Year 8 Coordinator
