Year 7 Activities Week
It is certainly proving to be a busy end to the year. I would like to take this opportunity to commend Year 7 for their continued application to learning as they strive to attain their personal best. Students are to be affirmed on their commitment to learning as was evidenced during their Yearly Examinations. It was pleasing to see students make effective use of their time management in preparation for the exams and consolidate their revision. Hopefully the knowledge and skills attained during this time remain with students as they prepare to embark on Year 8.Β
There was much enthusiasm and excitement as students participated in their activity week. We were fortunate enough to have our guest, Chris Doyle, present to our Year 7 students. There was music, dance, group workshops and testimonies that challenged them to live their lives with a strong value system based around the teachings of Jesus. In addition to this, there was emphasis placed on recognising blessings, cultivating a thankful heart and actively demonstrating kindness and how much of a positive impact it has in our communities. This day left students feeling motivated, thankful and equipped to live their lives with greater purpose and kindness.Β
Later in the week students engaged in a resilience and anti bullying program where our guest performers Amy and Jordan demonstrated strategies to students through theatre performance on how to navigate friendships, cyberbullying and mental health in a world where social media algorithms shape what they see and believe. The gripping performance allowed students to explore real life choices and consequences, fostering critical thinking, empathy and resilience.Β
To celebrate the culmination of a fantastic first year of high school, our Year 7 students enjoyed a wonderful picnic day. The glorious weather provided the perfect backdrop for a day dedicated to relaxing, having fun and strengthening connections outside the classroom. Students engaged in games and spent time with their peers, which proved to be an invaluable opportunity for them to further develop their communication skills and cement the friendships they have made. Seeing the entire cohort enjoying themselves and supporting one another was a truly heartening way to cap off a successful year, underscoring the strong sense of community and camaraderie that we actively foster here at Domremy.
I would not have been able to do my job well without the constant support of our beautiful Assistant Coordinator, Mrs Kshatriya. Thank you for your hard work throughout the year in ensuring our students not only rose to meet our expectations, but for also guiding the students to grow and develop to be the best possible people they can be.Β
2025 has been an amazing year! To the parents who were just as excited and anxious as the students; I hope you are proud of what your children have accomplished throughout the year, no matter how big or small. Your trust in myself and Mrs Kshatriya enabled us to work collaboratively in ensuring the best for your children. The year was full of smiles, tears, laughter, challenges and growth.
Year 7, I have learnt a great deal from working with you over the past 12 months and I’m proud of the nature, vibrant and responsible young adults you are becoming.
I would like to extend my warmest wishes to all of our families for a peaceful and blessed Advent season. This is a special season of hope and reflection. May the weeks ahead be filled with warmth, light and many happy memories for you and your families.
God bless.
Mary David, Year 7 Coordinator
