Bringing them Home – Interment of the Homeless
Last week was Homelessness Week. Throughout this week homelessness services and community groups raised awareness of the impact of homelessness, and the solutions needed to end homelessness, and advocate for change.
In support of Homelessness Week, students attended The Bringing Them Home Service, an annual ceremony held at Rookwood Catholic Cemetery to honour the homeless and isolated individuals who have passed away. Those who have passed may not have any family or friends to honour their lives.
Thank you to Matilda (Year 9) and Elise (Year 9) for attending this special service.
Loving God, we pray for our brothers and sisters who have passed away without the comfort of a home.
We remember their lives and the hardships they faced.
May they find shelter and peace in your presence, free from the pain and suffering they endured in life.
We pray for justice for the homeless and for an end to the conditions that lead to homelessness.
Amen.
