Celebrating the Feast of St John Paul II

Prayer

Oh, St. John Paul, from the window of heaven, grant us your blessing!

Bless the Church that you loved and served and guided,

courageously leading her along the paths of the world in order to bring Jesus to everyone and everyone to Jesus.

Bless the young, who were your great passion.

Help them dream again, help them look up to the heavens again to find the light that illuminates the paths of life here on earth.

May you bless each and every family!

You have spoken of the challenges and threats against this precious divine spark that God has lit on earth.

St. John Paul, with your prayer, may you protect the family and every life that blossoms from the family.

Pray for the whole world, which is still marked by tensions, wars and injustice.

You opposed war by invoking dialogue and planting the seeds of love:

pray for us so that we may be tireless sowers of peace.

Oh St. John Paul, from heaven’s window, where we see you beside Mary, send God’s blessing down upon us all. Amen.

Venerable Nano Nagle, Pray for us.

Welcome Back

I trust you all had a restful and rejuvenating break, enjoying some well-earned time away. As we step into this final term of the school year, I encourage each of you to embrace both the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead. This term promises to be dynamic and fast-paced, filled with exciting projects, significant assessments, and moments that will become lasting memories.

Let us work together with a shared sense of purpose, supporting one another as we strive for excellence in all that we do. With focus, determination, and collaboration, I have no doubt we will accomplish remarkable things in these weeks ahead.

Here’s to an outstanding and fulfilling final term!

Year 12 HSC

We are incredibly proud of our Year 12 students as they tackle their HSC exams with determination and resilience. Their hard work and dedication have truly shone through, reflecting the countless hours of study and preparation they have invested throughout the year.

With a positive mindset, our students have approached each exam so far, with confidence, embracing challenges as opportunities for growth. Their commitment to their studies is commendable, and it is evident that they have developed not only academically but personally as well.

I wish to extend my heartfelt gratitude to their teachers, whose unwavering support and guidance have been instrumental in preparing them for this important milestone. The collaborative effort between our students and their teachers has fostered an environment of excellence, ensuring our girls are well-equipped to achieve their goals.

Let’s keep cheering them on as they shine brightly in their HSC exams!

World Teachers’ Day – #WTD2024

Friday 25 October is World Teachers’ Day 2024. We celebrate the incredible educators who shape our future and empower the next generation. Teachers don’t just impart knowledge; they inspire curiosity, ignite passions, and nurture dreams. Their dedication and unwavering support create a safe space for all students, especially our girls, to flourish and find their voices.

I would like to thank all our amazing teachers for their patience and guidance. Our teachers are indeed the architects of the future, moulding young minds and fostering resilience in and empowering our young women. Their impact extends far beyond the classroom.

Let’s take a moment to honour our teachers who light the path for our students. Happy World Teachers’ Day!

Parents, carers and friends are warmly invited to support our students during this meaningful occasion. Your presence will help create a supportive atmosphere that fosters pride and encouragement. Additionally, this evening is dedicated to coming together as a vibrant community that aspires to excellence in all that we do and together to acknowledge our students’ achievements. Join us as we celebrate their hard work and dedication. There will be a keynote speaker, an alumna of the College will deliver the address. A number of other special guests will also be present to celebrate these successes with us.

We look forward to an evening filled with joy, inspiration, and community spirit!

Domremy Staff News

Jane Sullivan has been seconded to Head Office for Term 4, and during her absence, Monica Ribeiro will serve as the Acting Religious Education Coordinator.

Additions to Our Domremy Family

We are delighted to share some wonderful news about two new additions to the Domremy community!

During the first week of the school break, Mrs Sarah Standish (Bermingham) and her husband celebrated the arrival of their beautiful baby girl Olivia. We send our warmest congratulations to Sarah and her family as they embark on this joyous new chapter of parenthood. May their home be filled with love, laughter, and countless precious moments with their little one.

In more exciting news, Mrs Katherine Rowen and her husband also welcomed a handsome baby boy, Hunter, their second child into their family. We are thrilled for Katherine as she expands her family and wish her and her loved ones all the happiness during this special time.

We extend our heartfelt congratulations to both families and wish them endless joy and fulfilment as they embrace the blessings of their growing families. May this time be filled with cherished memories and the peace that comes with welcoming new life.

On a final note

We look forward to welcoming the parents of our incoming Year 7 cohort for 2025 at the Parent Information Evening on Wednesday 6 November at 6pm in the Brenda Quinn Hall. Additionally, we are excited to greet all Year 7 2025 students on Friday 8 November for their Orientation Day.

A letter outlining Term 4 events was sent via Compass last week. Many activities, such as Camps and Activities Week, require prompt submission of permissions and information. Please review the details and return any necessary forms as soon as possible. For any specific concerns regarding your daughter’s camp, please contact her Year Coordinator.

Planning for 2025 is well and truly underway with respect to staffing and timetabling. It is therefore imperative that families give the College a term’s notice if they intend on withdrawing their daughter’s enrolment for 2025 and beyond and we ask you to do so by emailing the College as soon as possible.

I would like to wish our students and staff a great term and I strongly encourage our students to ensure that they continue to be engaged in their learning and are organised in their approach to their studies. Next week exam blocks for Years 7-10 commence as follows:

  • Monday 28 October – Year 10
  • Monday 4 November – Year 9
  • Monday 11 November – Year 8
  • Tuesday 12 November – Year 7

My expectation is that each of our young women will give her very best in all that she does this final term and aims to end it on a strong note.

Thank you for your continued support and cooperation.

Blessings on you and your families.
