Public Speaking

Public Speaking

Our Public Speaking Team commenced strong this year.

From the 1st Round, three girls made it through to the semi-finals: Zoe in Year 7, Natalie in Year 8 and Charlotte in Year 8 who went through in the Year 9 division. The girls were ably supported by Mrs Freckmann, Ms Atkins, Ms Rombola, Ms Intilli and Mrs Vengsarkar, as they prepared for the competition which was held on 1 March at St Vincent’s College Ashfield.

Congratulations to all of our girls and a special thank you to the parents who attended along with Mrs Freckmann and Ms Atkins who were also present to support the girls.

Thank you also to our Public Speaking and Debating Prefect, Astrid Mavroudis, who has led the team ably and holds debriefing sessions to ensure learnings from the adjudications are taken on board by the team.

Congratulations to Domremy’s four Zone finalists who competed on Friday, 8 March at Marcellin College Randwick in the CSDA Zone Finals: Zoe, Natalie, Evie and Charlotte. Having already proved themselves at the Zone level, the students through to the Zone Finals competed against new schools as the various Zones came together for these Finals. The standard of Public Speaking was very strong and the Domremy students were well supported with great speeches of their own making, great staff support in Ms Atkins, Ms Intilli and Ms Rombola, parent support and support from other Domremy students. While the Domremy students didn’t go through to the next round, their place in the Zone Finals is a great testament to the wonderful speaking talent at the College. Congratulations to Evie and Zoe in Year 7 who spoke in the Year 7 Final, Natalie in Year 8 who spoke in the Year 8 final, and Charlotte in Year 8 who spoke in the Year 9 Zone Final. We look forward to these students building their public speaking skills further through the year for a strong tilt at the 2025 CSDA competition. Many thanks to the staff who supported these girls in the lead-up to the first round and the Zone Finals.

The team now gears up, with many already excited for the CSDA Debating season in Term 2.
