Kids’ Lit Quiz

Quirky and tricky questions about literature – that was the Kids’ Lit Quiz! Eight students from Year 7 took part in a national competition testing their knowledge of all kinds of literature. The quiz heat was held at St Ursula’s, Kingsgrove, and whilst this was only one heat of many, 29 teams took part.

The girls competed in two teams of four each and were asked questions about literature through a number of interesting rounds – including; Gems, fire, dogs, doors, and Harry Potter. My personal favourite round was the topic , ‘dogs,’  where students were asked questions about the existence of dogs in all kinds of books – classics, folklore, and more recent tales. They were required to know about Cerberus in mythology as well as Nana from Peter Pan.

Individual challenges took place at the end of each round to give markers a chance to count up points earnt. There were 10 team rounds in total.

Whilst we didn’t win overall, both of our teams won a round each and were rewarded with a choice of one book from a selection of new literature. Congratulations to the girls – all that attended did Domremy proud!

Aaliyah’s review: On Monday 22 May I attended the Kids’ Lit Quiz with a few other Year 7s. A lot of the questions were very hard and definitely challenged us but others were easier and we could quickly answer them. Although we didn’t win overall we did win one of the rounds and got a book prize. The Kids Lit Quiz was a great experience and I definitely recommend it to everyone who is eligible to sign up.
