Newman Selective Gifted Education Program – Higher Ability Assessment for Year 7 2024 Placements

Exclusive to Sydney Catholic Schools, the Newman Selective Gifted Education Program provides a clear educational pathway, underpinned by contemporary research, for identified gifted and talented students. Following a comprehensive accreditation process in 2019, Domremy College offers a high-quality educational program for Years 7-10 that responds to the pace, depth and curriculum complexity required by gifted learners. The Newman Selective Higher Ability Assessment, which has been designed by the Australian Council for Educational Research (ACER), took place at the College on Tuesday this week and was attended by 40 Year 6 students from our feeder Catholic primary and local public schools. At Domremy, Newman Selective Gifted Education Program participation is informed by a range of data sources to allow consideration of levels of student achievement and ability including this assessment of students’ verbal, abstract reasoning and written expression skills.
