Happy New Year and welcome to 2025 at Cranbrook Senior School. Today we welcomed our new Year 7 students on to campus with their parents. Thank you to all of our Year 7 parents who joined us for a short briefing and a meeting with their new Mentor and Head of House.

Our Year 10 CITF program continues down in the Cooleman Range, Kosciuszko National Park. The news from Mr Lilley is that our Year 10s have risen to the challenge superbly and we look forward to their return on Friday afternoon.

Last Thursday evening saw the hilarious Comedy Debate between our 1sts Debating team and the new School leaders.

Yesterday in Assembly, we welcomed Geoff Coombes from Stryde4 who congratulated the School on raising well over $50,000 for the various House charities.

A special thanks to our Year 10 volunteers for acting as guides in our final Open Day of the year. These students volunteered for this duty rather than being selected and the feedback from prospective families was incredibly impressive.

Wednesday’s assembly was largely student led by our new Prefect team, with a very amusing, yet effective, video on uniting the newly formed Prefect roles. These roles are within academic and co-curricular as well as community and service.

Today I was invited to attend a Debating lunch to celebrate the end of the 2024 season. This was an incredibly successful year with all our ISDA teams making the finals and our Senior A team taking out the title.

At the time of writing, Stryde4 is full swing with groups passing South Maroubra beach and enjoying their day. Fingers crossed for good weather and fun for the rest of the day.

A warm welcome back to Term 4. The holidays were a busy time for many students and staff, with various tours, camps, and study programmes as well as the musical rehearsal ‘Little Shop of Horrors’.
