Tennis Round 9
It was a beautiful, mild winter’s morning for the second week of Term 3’s Saturday winter training session. Great fun was had in the agility based warmups. Teams competed against each other to complete the tasks in the quickest time. Coaches were looking for accuracy in footwork which challenged the boys!
The main element of the lesson was based on a tournament with the children playing in their set groups. There was respect and good communication between the boys as they scored their own matches. Most groups focused on adding height to their serves to avoid them hitting the net. When it did, the boys demonstrated care and support to each other and serves were tried again. Some excellent rallies were enjoyed across the courts and there was noticeable improvement with the boys taking more risk and running into shots they may previously have left.

During the Friday and Saturday sessions, the 6 leaders helped and encouraged their respective teams to produce some thrilling passages of play. Alex F is turning confidently with the ball at his feet. Kingston T is proving to be a competent and energetic defensive midfielder. All boys continue to develop their individual skills and football sense! Looking forward to a great contest in our final session next week.

We are planning on running these on the first Friday of every month during term time.
TheirCare Update from our Before & After School Care Provider
The children are settling back into a routine at TheirCare this term.
We have designated a room for the older boys (Y3+). This is working very well, allowing activities to be catered for different age groups. We have made the most of the weather by having lots of outdoor activities, such as Soccer, AFL, Handball, Rugby and equipment play. Some of our menu highlights have been yoghurt with granola, fried rice and 2-minute noodles. Afternoon tea is always accompanied by a fresh fruit platter. Breakfast highlights are waffles and pancakes. All breakfasts include fresh fruits too.
A focus this week and going forward is on building teamwork, helping and looking out for each other.
We are pleased to have had some new faces coming along to TheirCare this term and are thankful that our after-school community is growing.

This month on SchoolTV – Neurodiversity
Neurodiversity emphasises the natural variation in how an individual’s brain functions and how they perceive and interact with the world, leading to diverse ways of learning and communicating. While most young people are neurotypical, some exhibit variations in brain development, such as ADHD, autism or dyslexia, making them neurodivergent.
Embracing neurodiversity involves accepting, celebrating, and supporting neurodivergent children and adolescents without attempting to change or treat their differences. Using respectful language, challenging unhelpful attitudes, avoiding assumptions, and actively promoting inclusivity can help embrace neurodiversity effectively.
Acknowledging the unique ways neurodiverse young people do things and then adapting tasks and activities to ensure their full participation will encourage them to develop strategies that feel natural to them. It will help improve their mental health, wellbeing and sense of self. By recognising and nurturing their strengths, parents and caregivers can contribute to building an inclusive and compassionate society where all young people can thrive.
Learning more about neurodiversity, equips caregivers with insights into effective communication techniques, educational strategies, and parenting approaches tailored to the specific needs of their neurodivergent child. We hope you take time to reflect on the information offered in this month’s edition, and we always welcome your feedback.
If you do have any concerns about the wellbeing of your child, please contact the school for further information or seek help from a medical professional.
