Dear Parents,

Our event-filled term continues apace. Tomorrow, all our students in Y3 – Y6 will travel to our School’s Aquatic & Fitness Centre with their teachers, to participate in the annual CJS Swimming Carnival. Thank you to James Roughan, for his careful organisation of this complex event, ably helped by Josh Cohen and Tommy Taylor. We look forward to welcoming many of our families too.

Digi Ed Movie of the Month

As part of Year 5’s recent English multimodal unit, students took part in a Digi-Ed incursion where they used stop motion to create their own movie. Oscar Leppinus, Leo Cortese and Raphael Goding’s film, ‘The Big Win’ about the Australian Gold Rush has been nominated for the Digi Ed Movie of the Month. Their movie has been selected alongside 2 other students’ movies from different schools. In support of the boys’ success, please head to the following link Movie of the Month (digied.com.au) and cast your vote for their movie. Voting is now open and will close on 29/11/23. The winning movie will be announced on 30/11/23.

K-Y2 Carols

Next Tuesday, K-2 boys and their families can look forward to their special Carol Service at All Saints’ Anglican Church, Ocean St, Woollahra (starting at 5pm).

Y3-Y6 Christmas Lunch
Students in Y3-Y6 should be busy preparing their Christmas hat in preparation for the annual Christmas Lunch, to be held next Thursday, 30 November.

K-Y2 Christmas Activities
On Wednesday, 6 December, students in K-2 will enjoy special Christmas Activities and their parents are invited to come onto campus at 2pm to pop into their classrooms to collect special craft from their son’s classrooms before heading home.

Staff News
After five years, Nicky Breedt will leave Cranbrook at the end of this year to take up a new role at International Grammar School. Over her time at Cranbrook, Nicky has worked at both St Mark’s Pre-school and the Junior School, sharing her passion for educating young minds, caring for them as whole people and celebrating their differences and achievements.

After almost three years at Cranbrook teaching Year 2, Katie Harrup will leave us at the end of this year to return, initially, to see family in Perth before leaving for an overseas teaching adventure in the UK. Katie really began her teaching journey with us during COVID, and we have had the joy of watching her hone her skills as a young teacher, while watching her bring a wonderful commitment to ensuring she is providing excellent teaching to the students in her care.

We wish both these dedicated and talented teachers the very best as they leave us. Their time at Cranbrook has enriched our students’ lives in so many ways and we will miss them both.

We hope all our families have a wonderful week.
