Dear Parents,
Our event-filled term continues apace. Tomorrow, all our students in Y2 – Y6 will travel to SOPAC with their teachers, to participate in our annual CJS Swimming Carnival. Thank you to Tom Hart, for the excellent organisation of this complex event, his last major carnival as our Head of Sport, JS, before he leaves us at the end of this year. Tom has been ably helped by Josh Cohen and Tommy Taylor. We look forward to welcoming many of our families too.
Congratulations to our Cranbrook Junior Blue team (Ethan Goldberg, Sebastian Koczkar, Rahul Loomba and Ishy Somia) who won their Semi-Final debate last Friday evening. They are now preparing for the Grand Final to be held tomorrow evening and we wish them well. Our debaters have been ably prepared by coach Miss Millie McKendry, supported by our Debating Manager, Ms Megan Light, and we thank them both for their unstinting support and oversight of the debating programme this year.
Next Monday afternoon, our Junior School staff will perform their annual Christmas Play, penned by our resident bard, 3H Class Teacher, Mr David Holmsen.
Next Wednesday, K-2 boys and their families can look forward to their special Carol Service at All Saints’ Anglican Church, Ocean St, Woollahra (starting at 5pm).
Y3-Y6 Christmas Lunch
Students in Y3-Y6 should be busy preparing their Christmas hat in preparation for the annual Christmas Lunch, to be held next Thursday, 1 December.
K-Y2 Christmas Activities
On Monday, 5 December, students in K-2 will enjoy special Christmas Activities and their parents are invited to come onto campus at 2pm to collect their sons and some special craft from their classrooms.
Current Address & JS Office Holiday Closure
As we head towards the end of the year, it is most important that the School has your up-to-date address on our database. If your mailing address has changed recently, please email our Office Manager, Jill McPherson jmcpherson@cranbrook.nsw.edu.au and familyupdates@cranbrook.nsw.edu.au, so these details can be updated before reports, class allocations and start of year information are posted out. Please remember that the Junior School Office is closed over the holiday period from 14 December 2022 until 27 January 2023.
Staff News
One of our Year 1 Class Teachers, Bethany Wilshire, who has been Year Level Coordinator for most of 2022, will be taking a year’s leave in 2023. During the year, Beth is keen to explore other aspects of education, student wellbeing, yoga and to spend some time with her family. We all wish Beth a joyful and stimulating year.
We hope all our families have a wonderful week.
With thanks,
Michele Marquet
