Message from Genét Erickson Adam, Acting Head of Junior School

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we come to the end of National Science Week, please join me in thanking all of our class teachers and Mr Josh Botto for designing and implementing an exciting and fun-filled week, fostering a love for science among our Cranbrook Junior School students!

One of the highlights of the week was the collaboration between Year 10 students from the Senior School and Years 3 and 4 students. Together, they engaged in a number of scientific experiments and activities, with Year 3 students even being lucky enough to travel to the Senior School to visit their labs.

Across the week, students explored scientific theory, conducted experiments, completed Kahoot quizzes and participated in lunchtime activities, igniting their curiosity. View the photo gallery here.

What do professional sport and classical music have in common? Both feature performers who train for hours so they can do what they love for their fans. As the Olympics came to a close, students enjoyed The Phoenix Collective Quartet, who performed for our students in the annual Musica Viva concert this week. They explored what it means to work together to accomplish a goal, celebrating teamwork in Music. View the photo gallery here.

Last week, we had our Music and Special Group photos. Tomorrow, students in Years 3 – 6 will have their summer and winter sports team photos taken. Please ensure you have read what your son needs to wear and bring along for these photos.

Please be reminded that students will participate in House football tomorrow afternoon and House Rugby the following Friday. There is no before or after school sports training for the next two weeks. Summer sport training begins Friday 30 August. Before and after school training begins the following week. Remember that there are no Saturday fixtures/games until Term 4.

As we continue to build towards the excitement of our upcoming Book Week, in Week 5, you are encouraged to read the iCentre News carefully, where you will find a detailed overview of the fabulous experiences Ms Megan Light has planned for Kindergarten – Year 6.

Save the date:

  • Father’s Day Morning – Friday, 30 August
  • Student-led conferences – Tuesday, 17 September (Kindy and Year 3), Wednesday, 18 September (Year 2 and Year 4) and Thursday, 19 September (Year 1 and Year 5)
