Book Week – Read, Grow, Inspire

In Week 6, we will focus on this national celebration of Australian children’s literature and reading.

On Monday, 21 August, we welcome three outstanding authors to the Junior School.

Lesley Gibbes – Kindergarten, Year 1, and Year 2

Kristin Darell – Year 3 and Year 4

Jacqueline Harvey – Year 5 and Year 6

Book orders can be placed online by clicking on the author’s name (see above). Please note that all of these authors write across a range of age groups, so you are very welcome to peruse them all.

K-6 Book Week Parade (Wednesday, 23 August 2023 at 8.30am)

Students and staff are encouraged to interpret this year’s theme, ‘Read, Grow, Inspire’, through costume and props.

Parents are warmly invited to this outdoor celebration of book characters and literary ideas.

Following the parade, Years 3-6 will enjoy the excitement of our annual Spelling Bee Final; whilst K-2 students will view the online theatrical adaptation of the CBCA shortlisted book, Frank’s Red Hat.

Our ‘Books at Bedtime’ event for Kindergarten and Year 1 returns this year on the Thursday evening (details emailed separately).

Littlescribe Mini Writing Festival

Last week, Years 2-6 students participated in a number of live sessions in this series of engaging incursions. Teachers and students will continue to access the range of recordings throughout Terms 3 and 4 to support the teaching and practice of writing inspired by the presenters.
