Pre-schools’ News – Week 7

Children’s author, comedian and storyteller, Gary Eck, was back to visit the children at St Mark’s this week. Once again, he shared his humorous book ‘Wake up sleepy head’ and talked to the children about creating stories and how to draw awesome illustrations. Thank you to Gary!

At St Michael’s, all three groups had the opportunity to visit St Michael’s church this week. Bishop Stuart Robinson greeted the children who had brought their toys and tucker to donate to the Anglicare Christmas initiative. He also shared the Christmas story and some lucky children were even allowed to ring the church bells! Thank you to Stuart!

Toys n Tucker
The Pre-school will continue to support the Anglicare Toys ‘n’ Tucker drive and if you have not already done so, there is still time to donate to this cause. Donations are distributed through Anglicare’s Emergency Relief and Family Support programs to assist those in local communities who would otherwise go without. Cranbrook has been a part of the Toys ‘n’ Tucker for many years and have been strong supporters of the program.

As per previous years, we invite children to donate a toy by placing in the collection basket. Please do not wrap the toys as the volunteers will sort these items and distribute accordingly. May we also ask that the items are new. No second-hand toys please.

This experience supports our ‘Contribute through Service’ school value statement, and also provides an early introduction to the attitudes of empathy; appreciation; curiosity and integrity.

We appreciate your support, as we educate our youngest children about the importance of caring and giving to others.

Child Safety Handbook
NSW Police Legacy have published a Child Safety Handbook for parents of children throughout the state. It is a comprehensive guide about key health and safety issues confronting children today. If you would like to view the handbook please click here.
