Dear Families,

Recent media coverage in The Australian has highlighted the negative impact of smartphones on the wellbeing of teenagers across Australia. This makes the wonderfully positive feedback to our recent WaitMate session so encouraging, with even more families across every year level signing pledges to hold off giving smartphones to their children.

This week’s CJS WaitMate figures:

Year 6 – 18 unlocked
Year 5 – 22 unlocked
Year 4 – 27 unlocked
Year 3 – 36 unlocked
Year 2 – 37 unlocked
Year 1 – 23 unlocked
Kindergarten – 18 unlocked

For those who were unable to attend the session, but are still keen to know more, we are pleased to re-share the link to a video of the presentation by adolescent psychiatrist, Dr Richard Baker, and WaitMate co-founder, Amy Friedlander. Please follow this link and use the password: Cr@n8rooK2023

We are so appreciative of your continued support as we work together on this important issue for our children.

COMPASS UPDATE
Thank you to the many families who are using the Compass app to register their child’s absence or to apply for holiday and medical leave.

We also use Compass to send out messages such as notifications about Excellence Awards. We will increasingly use Compass for messages that do not usually require a response. We have not heard of major issues with these emails going to people’s junk mail, but it might be worth checking your junk mail folder, in case one has gone there. If so, setting up a rule to always send Compass emails to your main inbox can ensure you always receive emails from the School.

By the end of this year, we hope to be providing access to your son’s reports via Compass. Before this happens, we will provide instructions on how to access the report and the date it will be available.

There will be a further rollout of Compass modules in 2026. We will let you know about these when they are set up and ready for use.
